What Retype Anything is for
The text editor handles a list of exact word replacements. This handles the changes you can only describe.
Replace an object
Name the target by position, colour and a distinguishing feature, then name what should stand in its place. The contact shadow moves with it.
Change a background
Describe the setting you want and the subject you want kept. Useful for putting an existing product into a lifestyle scene.
Recolour a material
Change a fabric, finish or paint colour while asking for the weave, grain and lighting to survive the edit.

What we already know about the limits
Written before launch rather than after, because these are the things that decide whether the output is usable.
- A whole-frame edit redraws the whole frame. Pixels outside the thing you asked about can move, so every result needs a look at full size before you use it.
- In our own testing, adding longer “keep everything else identical” instructions did not reliably reduce that drift. Describing the intended result works better than listing what must not move.
- Small print, logos and faces are where unwanted changes show up first. Compare them against the original, not against your memory of the original.
- Chained edits inherit damage. If version three has a flaw, go back to version two and ask again rather than editing version three.

Can I replace an object in a photo?
That is what this feature is being built for. Identify the target by position, colour and a distinguishing feature, then describe the replacement. It is not open yet — join the waitlist above to hear when it is.
Can I change a background and keep the subject?
Yes, that is one of the three main cases. Describe the new setting and the subject details you want retained. Preservation is the editing goal, not a guarantee that every pixel of the subject stays identical, so check fine edges and reflective surfaces at full size.
Does it keep the rest of the image unchanged?
No, and it is worth being direct about that. The model redraws the whole frame, so areas you did not mention can change. That is why the workflow shows you a full-image comparison before you download anything.
How is this different from editing text in an image?
Text editing takes exact replacement wording and is available today. Retype Anything takes a described change — a different prop, a new background, another colour — and is still in development. Most people will use the text editor for wording and this for everything else.
When will it be available?
There is no date yet. It opens once the task queue, budget controls and quality review behind it are finished and tested. We would rather be late than open something that takes your credit and returns an image you cannot use.
Will it use credits?
It will use the same credit system as text editing: one credit when a generation is accepted, no extra charge for retries within the same task or for downloading, and an automatic refund if a task ends with no image. Exact pricing is set before launch.
