Terms of Service
The terms governing your use of RetypeWords, the image text editor
2026/09/03
Introduction
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of RetypeWords, an online tool that replaces text that is already part of an image ("the Service"). By uploading an image or creating an account, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Definitions
- "We," "us," "our" — RetypeWords
- "You," "your" — the individual or organisation using the Service
- "Your Content" — images you upload and the replacement text you type
- "Output" — the edited image the Service produces from Your Content
- "Credit" — the unit used to pay for a completed edit
What the Service Does
You upload a raster image. The Service reads the text visible in it, you select which words to change and type what they should say instead, and the Service produces an edited version of the image in which those words have been rewritten in place.
The Service is not a design tool and does not place a new text layer over your image. It changes the pixels.
What we do not promise
- We do not promise a perfect match to the original typeface. Style matching is a close visual match, not a recovery of the original font file. On unusual display faces the difference will be visible.
- We do not promise the rest of the picture is untouched. The model redraws the whole frame. We detect and show you what else changed, but detection is not perfect — text that was added where none existed before, in particular, may not be flagged.
- We do not promise any specific image will succeed. Handwriting, script lettering, hand-painted signs, and text on a curve or in perspective are outside what the Service handles reliably.
This is why every result must be reviewed and confirmed by you before it is delivered. You are responsible for checking the Output before you use it.
Accounts
You may use the Service once without an account. Beyond that, you need to register.
You are responsible for the accuracy of your registration details, for keeping your credentials secure, and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission. One person or organisation may not operate multiple accounts to obtain additional free usage.
You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live. The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Your Content and the Output
You keep ownership of Your Content. Uploading it does not transfer any ownership to us.
You grant us a limited licence to store, process and transmit Your Content solely to produce your Output, to operate and support the Service, and to comply with law. That licence ends when the content is deleted.
We do not use Your Content to train models, and we do not sell it.
You own the Output to the extent it can be owned, subject to any rights held by others in the underlying image. We claim no ownership of it. Note that an edited image derived from material you do not have the rights to remains someone else's material — editing it here does not give you rights you did not have.
To produce your Output we send Your Content to third-party processors, including cloud infrastructure, an OCR provider, and an image model provider. The Privacy Policy names the categories of these processors and what they receive.
Acceptable Use
You may edit any image you have the right to edit. We do not refuse images because of what kind of document or screenshot they look like — invoices, forms, certificates, scans and chat screenshots all have ordinary legitimate uses.
What you may not do is set out in the Acceptable Use Policy, which forms part of these Terms. In summary, you may not:
- present an edited image as a genuine, unaltered record to someone who will rely on it
- use an edited image to obtain money, credit, employment, or status you are not entitled to
- forge identity documents, prescriptions, or evidence
- edit images you have no right to edit, or that infringe someone else's rights
- attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the Service
- resell or redistribute the Service as your own without a written agreement
Accounts used for the conduct above are terminated.
Credits and Payment
One image is one Credit, however many pieces of text you change in it.
A Credit is deducted when you confirm a result and it is delivered to you. Specifically:
- Retrying a result you were not satisfied with does not cost an additional Credit.
- A job that fails, is cancelled before processing, or that you never confirm costs nothing.
- Credits are deducted only on a confirmed, delivered result.
Free usage carries a visible mark on the exported image. Paid plans do not.
Prices, plan contents and any applicable taxes are shown at the point of purchase. Purchased Credits are consumed as described above. Where a statutory right of withdrawal or refund applies to you, it applies — nothing here removes it.
We may change prices for future purchases. Credits you have already bought are not devalued by a price change.
Availability
We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. We may modify, suspend or discontinue features, and we may perform maintenance that makes the Service temporarily unavailable.
The Service depends on third-party model providers. If a provider is unavailable, the affected capability is disabled and reported honestly rather than silently degraded.
Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, or where required by law. Where the breach is not serious and can be fixed, we will normally tell you first.
On termination, your right to use the Service ends and your content is deleted according to the retention periods in the Privacy Policy.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that any particular edit will be accurate, complete or fit for your purpose. The confirmation step exists because automated output cannot be trusted without review. Do not use an Output for anything consequential without checking it.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill.
Our total liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or fifty US dollars.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify us against claims, damages and reasonable costs arising from Your Content, your use of an Output, or your breach of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy.
Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at our place of establishment, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory rules in your country of residence.
Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us — most issues are resolved that way.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified through the Service or by email before they take effect, and the date at the top of this page will change. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms.
General
If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Acceptable Use Policy, are the entire agreement between us regarding the Service.

These Terms are drafted for a small independent product and have not been reviewed by a lawyer. They are not legal advice.
