Cookie Policy
The cookies RetypeWords sets, and what each one is for
2026/09/03
Introduction
This policy explains the cookies and similar storage RetypeWords uses. It covers the same site as our Privacy Policy.
We do not use advertising, retargeting or cross-site tracking cookies. There is no ad network on this site and nothing here follows you to other sites.
What Are Cookies
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. Some are required for the site to work at all — staying signed in, for example. Others remember a preference. We also use localStorage, which works similarly but is not sent back to the server.
What We Actually Set
Strictly necessary
These cannot be turned off without breaking the site.
| Purpose | What it does |
|---|---|
| Session | Keeps you signed in between page loads |
| CSRF protection | Stops a third-party site submitting forms as you |
| Bot check | Cloudflare Turnstile, used on sign-up to block automated abuse |
| Free-usage limit | A device identifier used to enforce one free edit per device |
Preference
| Purpose | What it does |
|---|---|
| Language | Remembers the language you chose, so you are not redirected each visit |
| Theme | Remembers light or dark mode |
Support chat
If the in-app chat widget is enabled, the chat provider sets its own cookies so a conversation survives a page reload.
Analytics
We currently run no analytics cookies. If that changes, this page will be updated before the change takes effect, and the change will be reflected in the date at the top.
Managing Cookies
Your browser lets you block or delete cookies — usually under Settings, Privacy. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop you from signing in and may prevent free usage from working.
Because we set no advertising or analytics cookies, there is nothing here for a consent banner to gate. If we add anything beyond the categories above, we will ask first where the law requires it.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
